Strawberry Angel Dessert

  1. In a saucepan, combine gelatin and cold water; let stand 5 minutes to soften.
  2. Heat and stir over low heat just until gelatin dissolves.
  3. Remove from heat; add sugar.
  4. Stir until dissolved. Stir in undrained strawberries.
  5. Chill until partially thickened. Fold in whipped topping.
  6. Place cake cubes in a mixing bowl; pour strawberry mixture over cake and mix gently.
  7. Pour into an ungreased 8-inch square baking dish.
  8. Chill until firm.
  9. Garnish with fresh strawberries and mint if desired.
  10. Yields 9 servings.
