Apple Conserve With Powdered Pectin Recipe

  1. To prepare fruit.
  2. Select tart apples.
  3. Sort and wash apples.
  4. Remove stem and blossom ends and core; don't pare.
  5. Chop apples fine.
  6. To make conserve.
  7. Combine apples, water, lemon juice, and raisins in a kettle.
  8. Add in pectin and stir well.
  9. Place on high heat and, stirring constantly, bring quickly to a full boil with bubbles over the entire surface.
  10. Add in sugar, continue stirring, and heat again to a full bubbling boil.
  11. Boil hard for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  12. Add in nuts.
  13. Remove from heat.
  14. If you like, add in 3 or possibly 4 drops of red food coloring.
  15. Skim.
  16. Pour immediately into warm, sterile canning jars to 1/4-inch from top.
  17. Seal.
  18. Process 5 min in boiling water bath.
  19. This recipe yields 6 or possibly 7 half-pint jars.
  20. Yield: 6 or possibly 7 half-pints
