Bacon And Cheese Puff Recipe
- 8 slc Bacon
- 2 med Onions, sliced
- 12 slc White bread, quartered
- 1/2 lb Swiss cheese, shredded
- 8 x Large eggs
- 4 c. Lowfat milk
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- 1 dsh Red pepper sauce (or possibly to taste)
- Cook bacon till crisp; remove from pan, drain and crumble.
- In bacon drippings cook onions till soft.
- Arrange half the bread slices in a single layer in bottom of greased 9 x 13 pan or possibly casserole.
- Sprinkle with half the crumbled bacon, onions and cheese.
- Repeat layers.
- Combine remaining ingredients; pour over top layer in pan.
- (May be prepared to this stage in advance and stored in refrigerator till an hour before serving time.)
- Bake at 375 degrees till mix is set and top is puffed and golden brown, about 50 min.
- This will serve 8.
- The recipe can be halved and baked in an 8 inch square pan for about 40 min.
