Grilled Bacon With Steak Sauce
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup canned tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
- 1 pound 1/4-inch-thick slices bacon
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Add onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is soft and translucent, about 15 minutes.
- Stir in brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire, salt and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then stir in tomato sauce.
- Simmer for 1 minute; remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Stir in horseradish and let cool completely.
- Cover and chill (can be made 2 weeks ahead).
