Asian Spiced Flank Steak with Shiitake Barbecue Sauce

  1. Rub flank steak with spice blend.
  2. Let marinate for 1 hour or refrigerate overnight.
  3. Preheat grill or broiler.
  4. Grill or broil steak on both sides for 6 minutes.
  5. Remove and allow to rest for 10 minutes.
  6. Stir-Fry:
  7. Cover the mushrooms with 1 cup warm water and soak for 20 minutes.
  8. Reserve the liquid, discard the stems, and slice the caps into strips.
  9. Heat wok with 2 tablespoons oil.
  10. Stir-fry garlic ginger, onion and mushrooms for 1 minute, then add the remaining vegetables.
  11. Stir-fry for 4 to 5 minutes or until tender.
  12. Add soy sauce, mushroom water, and cornstarch.
  13. Cook until slightly thickened.
  14. Drizzle with dark sesame oil, and season with salt.
  15. To Plate:
  16. Place Stir Fried Vegetables on platter.
  17. Thinly slice steak against the grain and fan over vegetables.
  18. Drizzle with Shiitake Barbecue Sauce.
  19. In a small bowl, blend all the ingredients.
  20. Keep in an airtight container until ready to use.
  21. Place a saute pan over medium-high heat.
  22. Add the oil and heat.
  23. When the oil is hot, add the mushrooms and saute until they begin to give up their liquid, about 4 minutes.
  24. Add the sesame oil, soy sauce, orange juice and zest and cook for 2 minutes.
