Brownies With Broiled Coconut Frosting
- 34 cup granulated sugar
- 12 cup butter or 12 cup margarine, cut into pieces
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 (8 ounce) boxsemisweet baking chocolate squares, broken into pieces
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 14 teaspoon baking soda
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine, melted
- 14 cup nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk
- FOR THE BROWNIES: Preheat oven to 350F,.
- Grease 13x9-inch baking pan.
- Heat, stirring constantly, sugar, butter and water in a large, heavy-duty saucepan, just to boiling.
- Remove from heat.
- Add baking bars; stir until melted.
- stir in eggs one at a time.
- Add flour, vanilla extract, baking soda and salt; stir well.
- Spread into prepared pan.
- Bake for 16-20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky.
- Cool in pan for 20 minutes.
- FOR THE COCONUT FROSTING: Combine coconut, brown sugar, butter and evaporated milk in medium bowl.
- Spread over cooled brownies.
- Broil 4-inches from heat for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
