Irish Breakfast Scones

  1. Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Add margarine and mix well.
  3. Add the syrup and enough milk to make a loose dough.
  4. Turn onto a floured board and knead until smooth.
  5. Roll out into a square with a thickness of about 3/4 inch.
  6. Cut dough in half, then into quarters and then to eights.
  7. Bake on a lightly floured baking sheet at 400F (200C) for approximately 20 minutes.
  8. Cool on a wire rack.
  9. Split and serve with whole fruit preserves.
