Whole Barbecued Chicken
- 2 small lemons Safeway 4 ct For $5.00 thru 02/09
- 1 cup Kraft Chicken'N Rib BBQ Sauce
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 2 whole chickens (3 lb. each)
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- Heat barbecue for indirect grilling: Light one side of barbecue, leaving other side unlit.
- Close lid; heat barbecue to 350 degrees F. Cut lemons in half.
- Squeeze juice into small bowl; reserve lemon halves for later use.
- Stir barbecue sauce and Italian seasoning into lemon juice.
- Trim and discard excess fat from chickens.
- Place 2 lemon halves and 2 garlic cloves inside each chicken cavity.
- Place chickens, breast-sides up, on grate over unlit area; cover.
- Grill 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until done (170F) monitoring for consistent grill temperature, turning and brushing occasionally with barbecue sauce mixture for the last 20 min.
- Discard lemons and garlic from chicken cavities before serving chicken.
