My Favorite Birthday Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Grease and flour 3 (9-inch) cake pans.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
  3. Combine flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  4. Beat well after each addition.
  5. Add salt and flavorings.
  6. Add any food color at this time if desired.
  7. Beat egg whites in a separate bowl until stiff peaks form.
  8. Fold beaten egg whites into batter.
  9. Butter and flour three 8 or 9 inch cake pans.
  10. Divide batter into cake pans.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cake tests done.
  12. Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes then turn out of pans to finish cooling.
  13. Frost and decorate with your favorite white or vanilla frosting.
  14. I have tinted mine orange, but any colors can be done.
  15. Enjoy!
