Apple-Walnut Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 375F.
  2. Butter and flour 8x8x2-inch baking pan.
  3. Mix diced apples, sugar, butter and egg in large bowl to blend.
  4. Sift flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt over.
  5. Add chopped walnuts; mix thoroughly.
  6. Transfer mixture to prepared pan.
  7. Bake until cake is brown and crusty on top and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
  8. Cool cake in pan on rack.
