Sparkling Tree Cakes

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Lightly grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans; set aside.
  3. Prepare cake batter as directed on package; tint green with food coloring.
  4. Pour evenly into prepared pans.
  5. Bake as directed on package.
  6. Cool in pans 10 min..
  7. Remove to wire rack; cool completely.
  8. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar in small bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.
  9. Add whipped topping; stir until well blended.
  10. Spread evenly onto tops and sides of cakes.
  11. Cut each cake into eight wedges to resemble Christmas trees.
  12. Insert peppermint stick into bottom of each wedge for the tree trunk.
  13. Decorate with remaining ingredients.
  14. Store in refrigerator.
