Easy spaghetti Bolognese
- 1 large onion (diced)
- 2 tinned tomato (425g tin)
- 400 ml beef stock
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 400 grams mince beef
- 100 grams grated or sliced carrots (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves (chopped)
- 400 grams dried spaghetti
- 1/3 tsp seasoned or garlic salt
- 1/3 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/4 tsp Cayenne chilli pepper
- 1 parmigiano cheese (to sprinkle on top)
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp Sugar
- Heat 2 tbsp olive oil over a medium heat in a saucepan.
- Add the beef, and brown (Don't over cook the beef).
- Should only need about 5 minutes tops.
- Transfer to a bowl once its cooked and set aside.
- Using the same pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil and heat.
- Add the onions, bay leaves, salt and pepper.
- Fry for about 5 minutes or until softened.
- Add the garlic and cook for a further 1-2 minutes.
- Then add the carrots and mince beef back into the pan.
- Next add the tomatoes and stir well.
- Pour in the stock and then reduce heat.
- Check seasoning is to your taste before turning the heat off.
- Simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
- Set aside when cooked.
- When its time to cook the pasta.
- Heat a saucepan filled with water, a pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Cook pasta as the instructions say.
- After boiling point it normally takes 12-15 minutes to cook pasta.
- Drain the pasta when cooked.
- On each plate pour sauce over pasta then sprinkle with some cheese.
