Chinese 5-Spice Cookies

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine flour, five-spice powder, baking soda and dry pudding mix.
  3. Beat butter and brown sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Blend in egg.
  5. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  6. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough, 2 inches apart, onto baking sheets.
  7. Bake 10 to 12 min.
  8. or until edges of cookies are lightly browned.
  9. Cool 1 min.
  10. on baking sheets.
  11. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
  12. Whisk powdered sugar, water and extract until blended; brush onto cookies.
  13. Sprinkle with nuts.
