Bette Hagman's Maple Chicken

  2. Preheat oven to 325.

  4. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  5. Place skin side down in a 9" x 13" pan.

  7. In a small bowl, combine the syrup, vinegar, ketchup, and brown sugar and pour over the chicken.

  9. Cover with foil and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
  10. 5.)
  11. Turn chicken and bake, uncovered for 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes to moisten.
  12. 6.)
  13. Pour off the sauce but save it as a gravy to serve over the chicken and rice.
