Shaker Old Fashioned Whipping Cream Nut Cake

  1. FOR THE CAKE: In a bowl sift together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In large mixing bowl combine the eggs and cream; beat with rotary beater or electric mixer till well blended.
  3. Beat in sugar; continue beating till thickened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in the flour mixture.
  5. Stir in the walnuts.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350F till the cake tests done, 25 to 30 minutes.
  8. Cool.
  9. Frost with Golden Butter Frosting.
  10. GOLDEN BUTTER FROSTING: In a small saucepan melt 1/4 cup butter; keep over low heat till butter is golden brown.
  11. (Watch carefully to prevent scorching.)
  12. Remove from heat.
  13. Place 2 cups sifted powdered sugar in a mixing bowl.
  14. Beat in the melted butter.
  15. Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
  16. Blend in enough light cream to make frosting of spreading consistency.
  17. Quickly spread frosting on top of cooled cake.
