Maple-Walnut Blondies With Maple Candy Glaze
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup granulated maple sugar (if you cannot find, substitute with brown sugar)
- 23 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 14 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup maple syrup, real
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- In a medium mixing bowl, cream together brown sugar, maple sugar, butter and eggs.
- Stir in vanilla, baking powder and baking soda.
- Then stir in flour 1 cup at a time until well combined.
- Fold in walnuts.
- Spread batter evenly into a greased 9-inch x 13-inch baking pan.
- Note: the batter will be quite thick.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until done (a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean).
- Cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes.
- For the glaze: In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring maple syrup to a boil.
- Boil for 5-8 minutes or until syrup reduces by half and is the consistency of a glaze.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool for 2 minutes.
- One spoonful at a time, drizzle glaze evenly over warm blondies.
- Allow to sit for five minutes until glaze begins to harden--like maple candy.
- Cut blondies into 2-inch pieces and serve.
- I think these would go really well with maple-walnut ice-cream.
