Grilled Chile Relish

  1. Light a grill.
  2. Rub the chiles and onion with oil and grill until charred, 8 minutes.
  3. Peel and seed the chiles and cut into thin strips; chop the onion.
  4. Transfer the vegetables to a saucepan.
  5. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer over moderate heat, then serve.
