Vickys Ruby Poached Pears in Syrup

  1. Put the grape juice in a small but deep pan with the sugar, mixed spice, vanilla & orange zest and heat gently until the sugar dissolves
  2. Put the pears in the pan.
  3. They should be covered by the juice.
  4. Bring to the boil then simmer for 25 mins or until soft
  5. Put the pears to the side and keep warm.
  6. Bring the juice to a rapid boil until it has reduced by half and turned syrupy
  7. Serve the pears hot or cold with the syrup poured over.
  8. I serve vanilla ice cream on the side and hubby likes custard with his.
