Peppered Camembert Damper Bread Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 400F Lightly grease two baking trays.
  2. Sift flour and 1 teaspoon salt into a large bowl.
  3. Stir in pepper and camembert.
  4. Make a well in the centre.
  5. Combine butter, 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup water in a jug.
  6. Pour into well.
  7. Using a flat-bladed knife, mix until just combined.
  8. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
  9. Knead gently until dough comes together.
  10. Divide dough into 8 portions.
  11. Roll each portion into a ball and flatten slightly.
  12. Place on baking trays, allowing room for spreading.
  13. Brush tops with remaining milk.
  14. Using a small, sharp knife, make 3 slits in the top of each damper.
  15. Bake dampers for 12 to 15 minutes, swapping trays after 8 minutes, or until golden and a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  16. Serve warm.
