Apples 'n' Cream Trifle
- 1 (14 ounce) caneagle brand sweetened condensed milk
- 1 12 cups cold water
- 1 (102 g) package vanilla instant pudding mix
- 2 cups whipping cream
- 10 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced (Golden Delicious, Northern Spy, or Cortland)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 (298 g) package poundcake, sliced
- In large bowl, use electric mixer to beat sweetened condensed milk and water together until smooth.
- Add pudding mix; beat well.
- Chil until thickened, about 20 minutes.
- Fold in whipped cream.
- In large skillet over medium heat saute apples with butter, brown and white sugar and cinnamon until tender.
- Cool completely.
- Line bottom of a 12 cup round trifle bowl with slices of pound cake (or divide amongst individual trifle dishes).
- Spoon half pudding mixture over pound cake, then cover with apples.
- Repeat one more layer, reserving a bit of pudding mixture for garnishing the top layer.
- Chill overnight.
