Hearty Sausage Stromboli

  1. In large skillet, cook the sausage, beef, onion, mushrooms and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
  2. Stir in the water, tomato paste, parmesan cheese, salt, oregano, garlic and rosemary.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes or until thickened.
  5. Meanwhile, cut top third off loaf of bread; carefully hollow out bottom, leaving a 1/2 inch shell (discard removed bread).
  6. Line bottomhalf with three mozzarella cheese slices; top with sausage mixture and remaining cheese.
  7. Replace bread top.
  8. Wrap sandwich loaf in foil.
  9. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  10. Let stand for 5 minutes before slicing.
