Peppery Snaps

  1. Combine first seven ingredients; set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat brown sugar, molasses, butter and egg.
  3. Stir in dry ingredients; mix well.
  4. Chill for 1 hour.
  5. Shape into 1-inch balls.
  6. Roll in sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Bake at 350F for 10-13 minutes.
  8. Cool cookies about 1 minute before removing to wire racks.
