Quick Dal

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Saute onion in oil until translucent.
  3. Add cumin seeds, cardamom or curry powder and garlic.
  4. Stir and continue to heat for 2 minutes.
  5. Add broth, tomatoes, lentils, ginger, jalapeno pepper, turmeric and salt.
  6. Bring to a boil.
  7. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
