One-Step Lasagna with Sausage and Basil

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Saute beef and sausage in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat until cooked through, breaking up meats with back of spoon, about 4 minutes.
  3. Transfer meats to bowl.
  4. Combine spaghetti sauce, water and basil in large bowl.
  5. Spread 1 1/2 cups sauce mixture in bottom of 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish.
  6. Arrange 1/3 noodles, slightly overlapping if necessary, atop sauce.
  7. Spread half of ricotta over noodles.
  8. Sprinkle with half of mozzarella cheese, half of meat mixture and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
  9. Top with 1 1/2 cups sauce.
  10. Repeat layering with noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, meats and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
  11. Arrange remaining noodles over.
  12. Spoon remaining sauce over, covering completely.
  13. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan.
  14. Cover tightly with heavy-duty foil.
  15. Place on baking sheet.
  16. Bake until noodles are tender and lasagna is heated through, about 1 hour.
  17. Uncover; let stand 15 minutes.
  18. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead.
  19. Rewarm covered in 350F.
  20. oven about 45 minutes. )
  21. Cut lasagna into squares and serve.
