Sourdough Doughnuts Recipe

  1. Beat egg and 1/2 c. sugar together.
  2. Add in starter, buttermilk, oil, 2 c. flour and remaining ingredients; except fat.
  3. Mix well and knead on board till smooth, using remaining flour to dust on board.
  4. Roll to a little less than 1/2 inch thickness and cut with floured 2 3/4 inch doughnuts cutter.
  5. Put on greased cookie sheet and let rise in hot place about 30 min.
  6. Then fry in deep fat (375 degrees on a frying thermometer) till golden and done.
  7. Drain on absorbent paper and roll in sugar.
  8. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen.
