Crunchy Honey Batter Bread Recipe

  1. Dissolve yeast in hot water in large bowl.
  2. Beat in 1 c. flour, cereal, salt, honey and shortening on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
  3. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl constantly, 2 min.
  4. Stir in remaining flour and fruit or possibly nuts.
  5. Scrape batter from side of bowl.
  6. Cover and let rise in hot place till double, approximately 45 min.
  7. Grease loaf pan.
  8. Stir down batter by beating 25 strokes.
  9. Spread in pan.
  10. Smooth out top of batter with floured hands.
  11. Cover and let rise till double - approximately 45 min.
  12. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  13. Bake 40 to 45 min.
  14. Remove from pan.
  15. Brush top with butter.
  16. Cook.
  17. Makes 1 loaf.
