Dakota Tradition Family Cookies
- 1 pt. Gold Label Brer Rabbit molasses
- 1 pt. dark Karo syrup
- 2 eggs
- 2 lb. raisins
- 1 lb. currants or chopped soft prunes
- 3 to 4 c. chopped walnuts
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. nutmeg
- 5 lb. flour
- 1 pt. Green Label Brer Rabbit molasses
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 lb. softened stick oleo or butter
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. cloves
- 1 Tbsp. ginger
- 3 Tbsp. baking soda, in 1/2 c. boiling water
- Mix astollows:
- Pour molasses into large pan on stove and warm.
- Add sugar, eggs, oleo and soda/water mixture.
- Add spices and salt.
- Add raisins and nuts dredged in flour.
- Mix very
- stiff with
- flour.
- Roll into balls about the size of a walnut and flatten on cookie sheet with glass bottom dipped in flour.
