Italian chicken sausage and pasta
- 1 cup milk or heavy cream
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 pinch dried rosemary & basil
- 1 box elbow macaroni
- 1 packages 3 cheese Italian chicken sausage (2 sausages) - pre cooked
- cook pasta according to package
- slice sausage into small ovals and brown in nonstick fry pan.
- on med/low heat, melt butter in sauce pan
- once butter is melted, mix in half of the flour.
- mixture should become a thick doughy paste
- add milk and stir vigorously using a whisk until mixture becomes smooth.
- add remaining flour and more milk if needed
- once mixture is smooth and creamy, add nutmeg, basil, and rosemary.
- mix while adding
- add parmesan cheese to sauce mixture.
- mix with whisk.
- sauce will thicken
- place bed of cooked pasta on plate, add desired chicken sausage and smother with sauce
