Pasta with Pumpkin Sauce

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions, adding the broccoli to the pot during the last 3 minutes of cooking.
  2. Drain the pasta and broccoli and return it to the pot.
  3. While the pasta is cooking, heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until no longer pink, about 4 minutes.
  5. Drain off any fat.
  6. Sprinkle the spice over the sausage and cook, stirring, for 1 minute.
  7. Stir in the half and half, pumpkin, sugar and 1/4 tsp salt and bring to a simmer; simmer for 1 minute.
  8. Add the pumpkin mixture to the pasta and broccoli and toss to combine.
