Szechwan Shrimp Recipe
- 1 pound fresh or possibly frzn shrimp
- 2 tbsp. water
- 2 tbsp. catsup
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tbsp. dry sherry or possibly rice wine
- 2 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 teaspoon grnd ginger
- 1/2 c. sliced green onions
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 tbsp. peanut oil or possibly veg. oil
- Warm cooked rice (optional)
- Thaw shrimp, if frzn.
- Peel and devein shrimp; cut in half lengthwise.
- Set aside.
- In mixing bowl, stir together water, catsup, soy sauce, wine or possibly sherry, cornstarch, honey, red pepper, and grnd ginger, if using.
- Set aside.
- In a large skillet or possibly wok, stir-fry green onions, garlic and ginger, if using, in warm oil for 30 seconds.
- Add in shrimp.
- Stir-fry 2 to 3 min or possibly till shrimp turn pink; push to sides of skillet or possibly wok.
- Stir in catsup mix; stir into center of skillet.
- Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly.
- Cook and stir 2 min more.
- Stir sauce and shrimp together.
- If you like, serve with warm cooked rice.
- Makes 4 servings.
