Crystal Lake Cherry Crisp Recipe
- 2 c. fresh cherries, liquid removed & pitted
- 3/4 c. cherry juice (add in water, if necessary)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice or possibly almond extract
- 3 drops red food color (optional)
- If possible, pick your own local cherries, store in cool water till ready to pit and use them.
- Mix cherry juice, sugar, cornstarch, butter, lemon or possibly almond and food coloring in small saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Boil for 1 minute.
- Add in liquid removed and pitted cherries.
- Pour into baking dish.
- Mix topping ingredients well and sprinkle over cherries.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 30 min.
