Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies Recipe
- 4 sq. Baker's semi-sweet chocolate
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, slightly softened
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 c. minced walnuts (opt.)
- 4 sq. Baker's semi-sweet chocolate
- Heat 1 square chocolate in microwave on HIGH for 1 to 2 min or possibly till almost melted, stirring after each minute.
- Remove from microwave.
- Stir till completely melted.
- Set aside.
- Cut 3 squares chocolate into large (1/2 inch) chunks; set aside.
- Beat butter, sugars, egg and vanilla till light and fluffy.
- Stir in 1 square melted chocolate.
- Fold in flour, baking pwdr and salt.
- Stir in chocolate chunks and walnuts.
- Chill 30 min.
- Heat oven to 375 degrees.
- Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 min or possibly till lightly browned.
- Cold 5 min on cookie sheets.
- Remove and finish cooling on wire racks.
- Heat 4 square chocolate in microwave on HIGH 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 min or possibly till almost melted, stirring after each minute.
- Remove from microwave.
- Stir till completely melted.
- Dip 1/2 of each cookie into melted chocolate.
- Let stand on waxed paper till chocolate is hard.
- Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
- Prep time: 30 min; refrigeratetime: 30 min; baking time: 8 min.
