Shredded Wheat Bread Recipe
- 2 Packages yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. boiling water
- 4 Nabisco Shredded Wheat Biscuits, finely rolled (about 1 1/3 c.)
- 3 tbsp. butter
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1/3 c. honey
- 5-6 c. flour
- Dissolve yeast in hot water with 1 tsp.
- sugar.
- Let stand.
- Pour boiling water over shredded wheat crumbs.
- Add in butter, salt, honey and remaining sugar.
- Let stand till lukewarm.
- Add in flour till dough is smooth.
- Knead.
- Let rise in a greased bowl till double in bulk.
- Punch down and knead then divide in half.
- Shape into loaves.
- Let rise till double in bulk in greased bread pans.
- Bake at 425 for 15 min, then 375, 30 min.
- Brush with butter to make golden brown.
- Cold before slicing.
