Steve's Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
- 1 12 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 12 cup powdered milk
- 12 cup quick-cooking oatmeal, and extra for sprinkling (not instant)
- 12 cup smooth peanut butter (I use the large jars of inexpensive generic)
- 2 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
- 1 extra large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water, for egg wash if you are so inclined
- 1 cup water (I use cold tap water)
- Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.
- Line sheet pan/cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Use electric mixer (dough hook), mix dry ingredients including peanut butter on low speed.
- Add the lightly beaten egg and 1 cup water and mix until it forms a slightly sticky ball.
- Dump the dough onto a well-floured board and knead into a ball.
- Roll the dough out 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into small squares with a pizza cutter.
- Or use a cookie cutter.
- That's more work and the dog won't care about the treat's shape.
- Treats from cookie cutters make nice family gifts, however.
- Optional: Brush dough with egg wash and sprinkle oatmeal.
- Bake in 325 degree oven for 60 minutes until completely hard.
- Cool, then break up the cooked sheet into squares.
