Consumer Report's Chili (Scaled Down)
- 2 pounds ground beef, lean
- 2 each garlic cloves
- 2 each onions chopped
- 2 each green bell peppers chopped
- 8 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon coriander
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- salt to taste
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups tomatoes crushed
- 2 cans red kidney beans
- Cook beef, garlic, onion, and green pepper in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat, stirring frequently to break up meat.
- Cook until onion is soft and meat has lost its pink color.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Bring to a boil.
- Cover and reduce heat.
- Simmer the chili for 45 minutes, stirring frequently.
- To make it hotter, add cayenne pepper or tabasco sauce.
- Serve with anything you want.
