Grandma Babiracki's Kapusniak Recipe

  1. Cook split peas till soft, using about 2 qts of water.
  2. Add in the ham, cubed ham and onion and cook the mix with the softened peas.
  3. Remove the onion and then add in the carrots, cabbage, sauerkraut, salt, pepper and caraway seeds.
  4. Simmer the mix about 1 1/2 hrs or possibly so till peas are tender.
  5. Add in more if needed.
  6. Serve with dab of lowfat sour cream, if you like.
  7. Serves 8 to 10.
