Basic Kansas City Rub Recipe

  1. Combine ingredients in a bowl; mix well.
  2. Rub on beef brisket or possibly pork shoulder before cooking.
  3. (Note the amount of the last three ingredients can be raised or possibly lowered according to your taste; however, veterans recommend changing only one ingredient per batch.)
  4. Makes sufficient for 4 briskets or possibly 4-6 pork shoulders.
  5. Yield: 2 1/2 c.
