Beef Ragout(Health Conscious)

  1. Heat a skillet; saute ground beef.
  2. Pour contents of pan into a colander lined with paper towels.
  3. Drain fat; return meat to pan.
  4. Add onion; saute for 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in water, wine, hot pepper, garlic, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt and pepper.
  6. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes.
  7. Add kidney beans; simmer 10 to 15 minutes.
