Vickys Cheese Straws, Gluten, Dairy, Egg & Soy-Free
- 80 grams rice flour
- 80 grams cornstarch
- 50 grams sorghum flour
- 30 grams maize flour/meal
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 120 ml melted sunflower spread / butter, cooled
- 450 grams grated cheese at room temp, I use Veganix brand dairy/soy-free pizza style
- Preheat the oven to gas 6 / 2000C / 400F and line a baking sheet
- Mix the flour, starches and other dry ingredients together
- Add the butter and cheese and mix by hand to form a dough
- Break pieces off and roll into a straw shape
- Place on the baking sheet and bake for around 9 - 12 minutes or until lightly golden
- You can form balls and flatten them too.
- Give them an extra few minutes to bake
- Let cool on a wire rack once firmed up enough to move them
- Best eaten the same day.
- Dough can be frozen.
- The baked cheese straws/biscuits can be firmed up again with a few minutes back in the oven at the same temp
