Baked Apples In Ginger Syrup Recipe
- Ingredients
- 4 x Bramley apples Grated rind of 1 lemon Grated rind of 1 lime
- 3 Tbsp. Water
- 6 piece stem ginger, minced small (6 to 8)
- 4 Tbsp. Ginger syrup, from the stem ginger
- 1 Tbsp. Sultanas
- 4 x Knobs of butter
- Pre-heat the oven to 180 C/350 F/gas mark 4
- Wash the apples and remove the core.
- Score a line round each apple about 1/3 way down from the top.
- Stand the apples in a heat-proof dish.
- Mix the syrup and the lemon peel well together.
- Mix the sultanas and ginger together and spoon into the centre of each apple.
- Drizzle the syrup over the apples, ensuring the syrup goes down the centre of each apple.
- Top each apple with a knob af butter and pour the water into the dish.
- Bake in the oven for 45 min to an hour, or possibly till the apples become puffy and tender.
- Baste at least twice whilst the apples are cooking.
- Serve with natural lowfat yoghurt or possibly creme fraiche.
