Easy Peasy Shepherds Pie
- 6 whole Potatoes
- 1 whole White Onion
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 2 Tablespoons Milk (or More If Desired)
- 2 Tablespoons Sour Cream (or More If Needed)
- 1 can (14 Oz. Size) Cut Green Beans
- 2 cups Grated Cheddar Cheese
- Start by peeling and chopping your potatoes.
- Boil them in water until they are fork tender.
- While the potatoes are cooking, finely chop the onion.
- Brown the onion and ground beef together in a hot skillet.
- When the beef is fully cooked, drain the fat and set aside.
- When the potatoes are tender, drain the water and add your milk and sour cream.
- Mash the potatoes, adding more sour cream or milk to get your desired texture.
- In a large baking dish, line the bottom of the dish with green beans.
- Next add the beef/onion mixture on top of the green beans.
- Then top the beef mixture with a layer of mashed potatoes.
- Repeat this process as many times as you would like.
- When finished with these layers, sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
- Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 20 minutes.
- This recipe can be switched up any way you would like.
- For example, my mother-in-law does not use onions, but instead, sprinkles garlic powder throughout the casserole.
- Also, some people prefer peas or corn rather than green beans.
- Experiment and see what suits your taste buds!
