Hermits

  1. Combine coffee and hot water, making sure water is very hot and stir.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Combine margarine, brown sugar and sugar substitute.
  4. Cream at medium speed until light and fluffy.
  5. Add egg whites and mix well.
  6. Stir together dry ingredients, including raisins.
  7. Add to creamed sugars, add coffee and walnuts and mix well.
  8. Brok by 1 1/2 tablespoonfuls (level # 40 dipper) onto prepared cookie sheets.
  9. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes until firm.
  10. Cool on wire rack.
