Aunt Erma's Famous Caramel Frosting
- 12 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup milk
- 12 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
- 2 12 cups powdered sugar
- Melt brown sugar and butter in saucepan.
- Stir Constantly; add milk and bring to a boil.
- Cook and stir for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Sift in powdered sugar.
- Add vanilla.
- Add enough additional milk to make of spreading consistency.
- Frost cake quickly as frosting tends to solidify.
