Spicy Smoky Black Bean Burgers
- 1 can (15 Oz. Size) Low-Sodium Black Beans, Drained And Rinsed
- 2 Tablespoons Tahini
- 1/4 teaspoons Paprika
- 1/4 teaspoons Chili Powder
- 1/4 teaspoons Cumin
- 18 teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Onion, Finely Diced
- 1 Tablespoon Jalapeno, Finely Diced (Remove Seeds And Ribs For Less Heat)
- 1/4 cups Rolled Oats Or Panko Breadcrumbs, More Or Less As Needed
- 1/2 Tablespoons Oil, If Cooking On Stove
- 4 whole Hamburger Buns Or Sandwich Rolls
- Other Burger Toppings, As Desired
- Mash about half of the beans with a potato masher, fork, or soup ladle (whatever you have!).
- Make sure not to mash them up too much, or the inside of the burger will be mushy.
- Add remaining unmashed beans and tahini and carefully mix together, being sure not to overmix.
- Add in a pinch of each spice (the listed amounts are just suggestions) and the diced onions and jalapeno, and mix to combine with a fork.
- Feel free to customize it and add other textures to your burger like corn, seeds, etc.
- Next, mix in breadcrumbs (or oats), 1 tablespoonful at a time, until it all comes together and reaches a moldable consistency.
- Form into patties and heat up oil in your pan if youre using the stove.
- Add patty to hot oil, and flip once browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Cook until browned on the other side and heated through.
- Serve on hamburger buns with all your favorite toppings and enjoy!
