Easy Biscuits
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon double-acting baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup shortening
- 34 cup milk
- Preheat oven to 425.
- In large bowl, with fork, mix flour, baking powder and salt.
- With pastry blender or 2 knives used scissor fashion, cut in shortening until mix resembles coarse crumbs; add milk.
- With fork, quickly mix just until mixture forms soft dough that leaves the sides of the bowl.
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead 6 to 8 strokes to mix thouroughly.
- With floured rolling pin, lightly roll out dough, lifting rolling pin near edges to keep dough evenly thick.
- Roll dough 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut biscuits into 1 inch wide strips and into square (or rectangle, depending on how big you like them) biscuits.
- Place biscuits onto ungreased cookie sheet nearly touching.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden.
