Homemade Flour Tortillas
- 2 cups flour
- 12 teaspoon baking powder
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 14 cup shortening
- 12 cup very warm water
- Place flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut in the shortening, and mix until it resembles course crumbs.
- Add the water a little at a time, mixing with a fork until the dough pulls together.
- Form as many 2 in balls from the dough as you can.
- Cover and let rest 20 minutes.
- Preheat a dry skillet.
- Roll each ball out on a lightly floured surface.
- Cook about 30-45 seconds on each side.
- Keep warm by placing them in the folds of a clean dish towel.
- Recipe can be doubled to freeze.
