Oaty Buttons (Soft Cookies)
- 8 ounces butter
- 6 ounces granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons golden syrup
- 6 teaspoons boiling water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
- 8 ounces self-raising flour
- 6 ounces oats
- icing sugar
- boiling water (for icing)
- Turn on the oven to 350F
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Stir in golden syrup, then vanilla.
- Then stir in the boiling water.
- Fold in the flour and oats.
- Roll the mixture into little golf-ball sized balls.
- Place on a greased baking tray.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- Decorate with icing or any other topping.
