Haliska (Hungarian Cabbage and Buttered Egg Noodles)

  1. Cook noodles following package directions, adding 2 Tbsp.
  2. salt to water.
  3. While water is coming to boil chop cabbage and onions.
  4. Melt 1 cube butter in heavy pan or skillet and add the onions and cabbage.
  5. Put the noodles on to cook.
  6. The cabbage will cook down considerably during the cooking.
  7. Cook over medium flame and stir as to prevent from burning.
  8. When cabbage is tender and well cooked, the noodles should be reay.
  9. Drain the noodles and mix with buttered cabbage.
  10. Stir until well combine and serve.
