Bennigan's Monte Cristo Recipe

  1. Assemble sandwiches: Bread, turkey, Swiss cheese, bread, ham, American cheese, bread; cut in half diagonally.
  2. Whisk flour, baking pwdr, and salt together to blend well.
  3. Add in water to the egg and add in to the flour mix mixing well.
  4. Dip each sandwich half into the batter and deep-fry (oil must cover the sandwich) in oil pre-heated to 360 degrees till golden.
  5. Remove from oil to paper towels.
  6. Sprinkle with the powdered sugar.
  7. Serve with hot or possibly room temperature jelly, if you like.
  8. This recipe yields 6 servings.
