Split Pea Soup

  1. In large soup kettle, cover peas with 2 quarts water.
  2. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Add remaining ingredients.
  5. Mix.
  6. Simmer on low heat (do not boil) for 3-4 hours.
  7. When peas are tender, run 1/3 to 1/2 of soup through blender.
  8. Mix blended and unblended soups together.
  9. Adjust seasonings to taste.
